The University of Texas-Pan American Division of External Affairs held an awards luncheon March 19 to honor the top recruiters to the Angel Investor scholarship fund.
Arlene Rodriguez of the High School Equivalency Program raised the most money and was awarded a trip for two to Las Vegas, including two nights at a hotel and round-trip airfare from Southwest Airlines. She raised nearly $21,100 and signed up 12 contributors.

Patty Rodriguez of Payments and Collections finished second in money raised with more than $6,500. She received $500.
Marisela Leal of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Economic Development also received $500 for her efforts. She signed up nine contributors, second to Arlene.
Spearheaded by the Division of External Affairs, the Angel Investor scholarship fund program encourages donations to scholarships benefiting students in any of the six academic colleges, University staff or the Greater University Fund, which is used for such student activities as national competitions, conferences and music and cultural events. To date, nearly $40,000 of the initial $50,000 goal has been raised.
