The University of Texas-Pan American Modern Dance Ensemble will present its spring concert March 2-3 at 7 p.m. at the UTPA Fine Arts Auditorium.
Tickets are $5 in advance, $7 at the door and can be purchased at the UTPA Payments and Collections Office or by calling 956/381-2715.
The concert has four faculty group pieces: “The Lord’s Prayer,” featuring audience participation; “Sarah Can Take Care of Herself,” a study in autism; “Find a Way,” a look at overcoming adversity; and “The Cycle,” a look at life cycles of people and communities.
There also are two solo pieces by each director. “The Passion of St. Matthew” by Diane Wawrejko Cochran is an artistic interpretation of Jesus Christ’s death on Good Friday. “The Time Will Come” by Melinda Blomquist, looks at the possibilities we all hope for.
The UTPA Modern Dance Ensemble, the only modern dance company in the Rio Grande Valley, is directed by UTPA faculty members Wawrejko Cochran and Blomquist.
