The University of Texas-Pan American University Gallery is hosting “Homo Mechanicus Defectio (Human Mechanical Defects),” an exhibit by Lenard Brown, from Jan. 18 to March 4.

A reception for the Brown, UTPA art assistant professor, is Thursday, Jan. 25, from 7-9 p.m. in the University Gallery in the Communication Arts and Sciences Building.

"Homo Mechanicus Defectio" consists of large prints and mixed media on paper, along with some plates Brown uses in his work. He is interested in functional objects and how they represent things people either do or need to be doing.

This is Brown's first year at the University. Originally from Henderson, Texas, he received his bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and a master’s from Ohio State University.

Admission to all exhibitions is free, and the galleries are open Monday through Friday, except University holidays. For more information or special accommodations, please call the University Gallery at 956/381-2655 or by e-mail at galleries@panam.edu.
