The pedal powered go-carts were built by high school students while enrolled in The University of Texas-Pan American Prefreshman Engineering program this summer. The test driving will be held Thursday, July 27 at 2 pm at the Mountasia Amusement Park located just off Expressway 83 westbound in McAllen, Texas.
The program is offered in three phases: design, implementation, and testing. The students will follow through with the testing and final phase of the program at Mountasia. Its aim is to boost the youngsters interest in science, engineering and math while having fun. The students are part of a UTPA Tex-PREP summer program under the direction of Dr. Miguel Paredes and Richard Trevino, director of the special programs at UTPA.
