EDINBURG – Dr. Hilda Serna will present her book, The Eagles’ Destiny: A Saga of Mexican-Americans Soaring to Excellence, on Feb. 24 at The University of Texas-Pan American.

The presentation, sponsored by the UTPA Friends of the Library, will be in the Schilling Room on the 2nd floor of the University Library from noon to 1 p.m. and is free and open to the public. Copies of the book will be sold during a book signing and reception afterward.

The book focuses on the characteristics of Mexican-American families in the United States, along with the everyday life of the average Mexican citizen. Serna also touches on political issues facing Mexican-American youth, including an in-depth look at political corruption.

Born in Raymondville, Serna attended medical school at the Universidad Popular Autonoma del Estado de Puebla, where she also was an English professor for four years. She and her physician husband are co-owners of Clinica Maternidad San Juan in central Mexico.
