EDINBURG – The University of Texas-Pan American Dance Ensemble will present its Spring Dance Concert Saturday, Feb 12 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 13 at 2 p.m. in the UTPA Fine Arts Auditorium.
This year’s concert will feature six dance works, which span the Dance Ensemble’s 15-year history. The concert will open with “Dark Moon Rising,” followed by “A Dance for My Daughters,” a mother’s message to her daughters.
The first half of the concert will conclude with “Passages,” an expansive work set to a haunting and mystical score. The second half of the program will begin with “Earthshine,” a solo dance set to popular music, including tunes recorded by Frank Sinatra and Judy Collins. “Red Shift,” first danced in 1984, will follow with evocative music by Vangelis. The concert will conclude with “Still Waters,” a women’s quartet performed to a beautiful score by Loreena McKennitt.
Admission for the concert will be $7 at the door and $3 for UTPA students. Tickets are available at the UTPA Office of Payments and Collections and the Chamber of Commerce in Edinburg.
