EDINBURG – The University of Texas-Pan American is hosting the eighth annual Financial Aid Fair on Friday, Feb. 18 at the Health and Physical Education II Gym.
Staffers will be on hand to help students and their parents with the financial aid application process and answer questions on different types of financial aid, including grants, loans, workstudy and income tax preparation.
“This will allow students the opportunity to get their financial aid applications completed for fall 2000 and spring 2001 by the Feb. 28 priority filing date,” said Jody Pena, director for Student Outreach. “For fun, we will also have door prizes, scholarship drawings, a costume contest and pizza for lunch.”
“High school students from more than 10 school districts across the Rio Grande Valley will begin arriving at about 9 a.m. The students also will go on tours of the University campus.
“Last year’s Financial Aid Fair drew slightly more than 1,700 participants, although more than 2,500 are expected this year. The fair is part of Financial Aid Awareness Month, February. Financial aid administrators statewide are encouraging students to apply early for financial aid.
