EDINBURG – The University of Texas-Pan American is celebrating its 10th Anniversary merger with the UT-System on Friday (Dec. 3), with the Night of Lights “Paseo de Musica.”

The festivities will include a holiday sing-along, Santa on a Harley, contests and activities for children, free refreshments and a fireworks display. The fun starts at 6:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Courtyard. Volunteers will be on hand to help direct traffic and visitors.

Ten musical groups from local school districts and the university will perform during a procession, Paseo de Musica.

The event is free and open to the public. Night of Lights is an annual tradition. Each year additional lights are added to the display to make the campus glow. The fireworks this year are a special touch to celebrate the University’s 10th Anniversary of its merger with the UT-System.

The program is sponsored in part by The Edinburg Economic Development Corporation and the Edinburg City Council; Mayor Joe Ochoa, Mayor Pro Tem Roy Pena, and Council members Ofelia De Los Santos, Fred Longoria and Arnold Benavides.
