Enedelia Piña Kidd is the new director of the Office of Placement and Cooperative Education at The University of Texas-Pan American.

Kidd, who has been with the Placement Office since 1982, replaces Derly Guajardo, who retired in mid-August after 15 years as director.

"Enedelia has proven herself through the years as an astute professional and is very respected by the company recruiters who visit our campus," said T. Edward Mercer, vice president for institutional advancement. "As interim director since late summer, she has already implemented changes and new programs that will strengthen the services we provide to our students, our alumni and the employers."

Kidd, who holds a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in counseling and guidance from then-Pan American University, began her career in the Placement Office as cooperative education coordinator in 1982. From 1983-88, she was a placement specialist I, with responsibilities for university testing programs, then in the fall of 1988, was promoted to placement specialist II, assisting the director with all phases of the office operation.

As director, Kidd will oversee career placement, the cooperative education program and student internships. The testing functions of the office were transferred to the Office of Center Operations and Community Services several months ago, and the Testing Center is now located in the UTPA Annex on South Closner.
