A reception for surrealist artist Noel Palmenez of Brownsville will be held in The University of Texas-Pan American’s Charles and Dorothy Clark Gallery from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10, in FAB 135, across from the Fine Arts Auditorium.

Palmenez’s artworks will be exhibited in the Clark Gallery through March 5.

Palmenez works in a variety of mediums, including oils on canvas, watercolor and pencils, and also depicts the same scene in different mediums. "Whispers in the Dark" and "Crown of Thorns" are examples of studies in both oils and pencil.

"It is interesting to see how he translates a subject matter from one medium to another," said Valerie Innella, gallery director.

Palmenez currently teaches printmaking at UT-Brownsville and is a public school teacher. He has an MS degree from Texas A&M University-Kingsville and is currently working towards his MFA here at UTPA.

Clark Gallery hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.; Monday, Wednesday and Friday from noon to 3 p.m.; and Tuesday and Thursday from noon to 4 p.m.
