UTPA offering series of computer science lectures beginning Feb. 9

The University of Texas-Pan American’s Spring 1999 Computer Science Colloquium Series will begin Tuesday (Feb. 9) with a lecture by Dr. Wendy A.L. Fowler titled "Pervasive Information Spaces."

Dr. Fowler is the director of UTPA’s Center for Distance Learning and Teaching Excellence and a faculty member in the Department of Computer Science.

The series of talks will be held in the university’s Engineering Building, room 2.172, and will take place every other Tuesday at noon.

In the series, faculty members will present introductory topics of interest to the general public as well as detailed research reports. The lecture series is open to the public and is free of charge.

Upcoming topics include "Reusability and Object-Oriented Programming" Feb. 23 and "Search Engine Technologies" March 9. The last of the talks will be held on May 4.
