"It is an interesting show — half the actors play themselves while the others play melodramatic opposites," said Sergio Moreno, who plays the lead.
Moreno, a Houston native who holds a liberal arts degree from The University of Texas at Austin and is currently teaching in McAllen, plays a father whose family is caught in an endless cycle of torment and is searching for an author to break them free.
The production is directed by Mauro Flores Jr., the first undergraduate to direct a Mainstage production. Previously Flores, who is a theatre education senior from Edinburg, appeared in the summer production of The Unexpected Guest and last season's The Triumph of Love.
Other productions for the season are Marisela De La Luz Lights the World (Dec. 2-6), Off the Map (Feb. 24-28) and Brigadoon (April 12-15 in the Fine Arts Auditorium).
Reserved seating for any of the productions is available at $10 per seat by calling the University Theatre Box Office at 956/381-3581. General admission tickets are $5 and may be purchased one hour prior to show time.
Parking is available at the corner of University Drive and Sugar Road. Latecomers and children under third grade will not be admitted.
