On Feb. 18, McAllen artist Waltraud Troester will open a show, "Making Love," that features mixed media works, sculpture and paintings in the University Gallery in the CAS Building.
"She has shown previously at the McAllen International Museum," said Valerie Innella, gallery director at UT Pan American. "She is pretty well known in the Valley as a working artist."
Troester's exhibit will continue through March 31. Gallery hours are 1:45 to 4:45 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, and 8 a.m. to noon on Fridays.
The artwork of talented Valley high school students will be shown in the Art Youth Festival exhibit in the Charles and Dorothy Clark Gallery in the Fine Arts Complex March 5-28.
"The Department of Art is inviting three senior art students from each area high school to submit works to be in a juried contest," Innella said. "The works will be up in the gallery, and the students will compete for art scholarships."
A series of workshops conducted by art faculty members in various media will be held for the students on March 28.
Clark Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 10 a.m. to noon on Fridays.
