UTPA hosts luncheon for prominent UTPA donors
The University of Texas-Pan American was host to Robert and Margaret McAllen on May 11 for a luncheon honoring the couple. Robert set up a scholarship fund in his wife’s name, making them both prominent UTPA donors.

UTPA to now offer SAT preparation courses
South Texas students seeking to raise their SAT scores in preparation for college applications can now participate in the SAT Prep Program being offered for the first time at The University of Texas-Pan American. The initial course for UTPA SAT Prep Program will begin July 22.


UTPA, City of McAllen announce opening of UTPA McAllen Teaching Site
A new partnership signed June 26 between The University of Texas-Pan American and the City of McAllen to establish a UTPA McAllen Teaching Site will provide Rio Grande Valley residents more convenience and greater access to higher education.


VA education benefits updated to offer veterans more financial aid
Starting July 1, The University of Texas-Pan American and universities across the country will no longer be required to take into account veteran’s benefits when determining their eligibility for financial aid, which may result in veterans receiving more financial aid to fund their higher education endeavors.

UTPA receives $100,000 grant to support FESTIBA 2010
The University of Texas-Pan American will implement a weeklong multidisciplinary conference on the Mexican Revolution thanks to the support of a $100,000 grant recently received by the National Endowment for the Humanities.


High school students learn new language with summer program
The demand for professionals with multi-cultural understanding and language skills is on the rise and The University of Texas-Pan American is helping high school students enhance their marketability by offering the Chinese Language and Culture Summer Institute June 8-July 10. The program is sponsored by the Integrated Global Knowledge and Understanding Collaboration (IGkNU) department which promotes education for vast career opportunities with government sectors and beyond.
