Bautista named Nurse Practitioner of the Year
Since The University of Texas-Pan American began offering its Master of Science in Nursing Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) program, Dr. Beatriz "Betty" Bautista has trained hundreds of registered nurses looking to further help patients by becoming nurse practitioners.

On Jan. 24, The Rio Grande Valley Hispanic Chamber of Commerce honored Bautista with its Nurse Practitioner of the Year award.

The doctor is in! UTPA hires a full-time physician
As 2013 rolls in, the future of student health care at The University of Texas-Pan American looks bright. Dr. Cristel Escalona has taken full-time medical residency at Student Health Services (SHS) and is now seeing patients. Along with the myriad of medical services SHS already offers, students will now be able —for the first time on campus— visit with a full-time medical doctor.
