Lacks Furniture partners with UTPA to educate the community about diabetes
The University of Texas-Pan American has joined Lacks Furniture in bringing back a program that trains fourth-grade students to educate their families about diabetes, one of the most common diseases in the Rio Grande Valley.


Cooperation stressed at UT VistaSummit
It takes everyone to improve the health and quality of living in a community.

And on Nov. 28, The University of Texas-Pan American, along with The UT System and UT Brownsville, brought together representatives of public and private health care organizations, nonprofit groups, educators and others with a vested interest in diminishing the health care disparities in the Rio Grande Valley for its third UT VistaSummit.

Undergraduate research transforms students and the Valley
The public is well aware of the damage to property and lives floods can inflict - we saw the pictures of New Orleans after Katrina and, more recently, the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy on New Jersey and Long Island, N.Y.

Juan Enriquez hopes the research he has conducted as an undergraduate student at The University of Texas-Pan American can help prevent that kind of damage here in the Rio Grande Valley.

UTPA honors student veterans on Veterans Day
The University of Texas-Pan American hosted a Veterans Day celebration Monday, Nov. 12 on the Chapel Lawn to honor UTPA students, faculty, staff and military veterans across the nation for their service.


Power restored in all buildings closed earlier today; all classes resume at 11: 45 a.m.
Due to a partial power outage this morning, the following buildings on the north side of campus have been closed: Health Sciences & Human Services Building East, Math & General Classroom Building, and the Business Administration Building.
