VP for Business Affairs James Langabeer set to retire after 22 years at UTPA
When describing his university’s top financial and business officer James Langabeer, University of Texas-Pan American President Robert S. Nelsen can get quite descriptive.

“He’s old, he’s crotchety, he’s mean and he’s a tightwad – he’s everything you want in a vice president of business affairs. And he is dedicated to this university,” Nelsen said of Langabeer, who will retire Aug. 31 after 22 years at the University.

Forbes ranks UTPA fifth in Texas public colleges on Best Colleges list
The University of Texas-Pan American again this year made the list of Forbes "America's Best Colleges," which was released Aug. 11 by Forbes Magazine and the Center for College Affordability and Productivity (CCAP).

The list, which includes 610 public and private not-for-profit universities and colleges nationwide, shows UTPA rated fifth this year among the 12 Texas public universities on the list.

Bucky, cheer and dance teams bring home honors
Once a year, The University of Texas-Pan American cheer and dance teams compete to show school spirit and hopefully put the University on the map. This summer they traveled to the Universal Cheerleaders Association and Universal Dance Association camps at Texas State University in San Marcos.
