Regents approve $243 million operating budget for UTPA
The University of Texas-Pan American’s fiscal year 2010 operating budget of more than $243 million was approved today by The University of Texas System Board of Regents and will go into effect Sept. 1.

UTPA hires Winston-Salem University administrator as new Dean of Students
The University of Texas-Pan American recently announced the appointment of Dr. Calvin D. Phillips to fill the position of associate vice president and dean of students in the Division of Enrollment and Student Services. He started his job on Aug. 1.


Cooperative program offers a Ph.D. in Spanish
Jose Castro is thankful he is able to further his education in Spanish while continuing to pursue his career as a linguistics educator in the Rio Grande Valley. This is possible due to a cooperative program between The University of Texas-Pan American and the University of Houston (UH), which offers students the opportunity to pursue their doctorate in Spanish through advanced interactive courses on the UTPA campus.
