University Association of Public Administrators recognized at state capitol
State Representative Aaron Peña (Edinburg) welcomed the members of the Association of Public Administrators (APA) from the Master of Public Administration Program at The University of Texas-Pan American Thursday, Feb. 19 on the House Floor and commended the members for their dedication to the field of public administration.


WRSC wins NIRSA Outstanding Sports Facility Award
The University of Texas-Pan American Wellness and Recreational Sports Complex (WRSC) has been selected as the winner of the National Intramural-Recreational Sports Association (NIRSA) Outstanding Sports Facility Award.

“We are very proud to be an award winner. A lot of hard work and determination went into the project from concept to completion,” said Dr. Jim Watson, director of UTPA’s WRSC.

Dr. Irmo Marini garners distinguished career in rehabilitation education award
Dr. Irmo Marini, professor and Ph.D. coordinator for the Department of Rehabilitation, was honored with the National Council on Rehabilitation Education 2009 Distinguished Career in Rehabilitation Education Award this week at the Ninth Annual NCRE Conference in San Antonio.

With the only Physician Assistant Studies Program in Texas outside a medical school, The University of Texas-Pan American is expanding its scope to students at The University of Texas at Brownsville and Texas Southmost College through the establishment of the Early Physician Assistant Studies Program (EPASP).

University community welcomes Sorber
The University of Texas-Pan American community welcomed Dr. Charles A. Sorber, interim president, to the campus as he began his first day on the job Monday, Feb. 16. UTPA held a Town Hall Meeting at the Student Union Theater to greet Sorber and his wife, Linda, to their new home.

The appointment of members of a presidential search advisory committee to advise The University of Texas System Board of Regents on the selection of a president for UT Pan American was announced today (Feb. 16) by Regents’ Chairman H. Scott Caven, Jr.
