UTPA athletics to host sports camps this summer
If your children are looking for something to do during the summer, The University of Texas-Pan American Department of Intercollegiate Athletics will be holding several sports camps for kids of all ages during the months of June and July.

UTPA maintains top rankings in national report
Once again, The University of Texas-Pan American is ranked second and fifth in the nation in the number of bachelor’s and master’s degrees awarded to Hispanics, respectively, according to the Hispanic Outlook in Higher Education’s annual review of the “Top 100 Colleges for Hispanics."


Local organization donates $5,000 to UTPA College of Education
The order of Alhambra, El CID CARAVAN, No. 106, donated $5,000 to The University of Texas-Pan American College of Education May 9 for student scholarships.

Susan Dell visits with scholarship recipients at UTPA
Philanthropist and entrepreneur Susan Dell, co-founder and chairman of the board of the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation, visited The University of Texas-Pan American in late April and met with a group of high school and university students whose lives have been impacted by the generosity of her organization.

UTPA participates in United to Serve project at Edinburg Birding Center
In conjunction with National Student Leadership Week and National Volunteer Week, both April 15-21, and The University of Texas System’s United to Serve Initiative, more than 75 students and faculty from The University of Texas-Pan American along with other community members volunteered their time April 21 to beautify the Edinburg World Birding Center.

Spring commencement graduates 1,400
After having commencement ceremonies at The University of Texas-Pan American Fieldhouse for more than 35 years, on Saturday, May 12 they were held at the new McAllen Convention Center to accommodate the growing number of graduates and their family and friends. More than 1,400 graduates participated in the three ceremonies held throughout the day.

UTPA honors South Texas TBEC Honor Roll schools April 26
Thirty schools from South Texas were honored during a ceremony and dinner titled "A Legacy of Excellence" at The University of Texas-Pan American April 26 for their inclusion in the 2006 Texas Business and Education Coalition (TBEC) Honor Roll of Schools.

UTPA joins RGV Sports Hall of Fame to host baseball legacy event May 17
The College of Education in conjunction with the Rio Grande Valley Sports Hall of Fame will be hosting the Baseball Legacy of the Rio Grande Valley Thursday, May 17, 6:30 p.m. at the UTPA College of Education Borderlands Room, 3.204.
