UT System Chancellor recognizes research by UTPA’s Dr. Banglin Chen

ROTC battalion at UTPA named one of nation’s top units
The 63 cadets in The University of Texas-Pan American’s Reserved Officers Training Corps (ROTC) were grandly saluted at a March 8 ceremony where the Bronc Battalion received the 2006 General Douglas MacArthur Award recognizing it as one of the best ROTC programs in the nation.

UTPA Coastal Studies Lab partners in project recognized by U.S. EPA
The 2005 South Padre Island Red Tide Response Project was recognized recently by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) with the third place 2006 Gulf Guardian Award in the partnership category. Award recipient, the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, partnered with The University of Texas-Pan American Coastal Studies Lab and Texas Cooperative Extension in the project’s development and implementation.

$1.2 million awarded for collaborative research
