Folkloric dance students and faculty from UTPA and Mexico to participate in joint program
The Office of International Programs at The University of Texas-Pan American and the Ballet Folklorico UT Pan American dance company will host 24 students and two faculty members from Instituto Tecnológico de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey (ITESM)-Campus Queretaro during a five day exchange program in May to include workshops and performances. This program begins a series of exchanges planned between UTPA and ITESM Queretaro in the field of folkloric dance and music.


UTPA offers new summer study program in Berlin
As part of its expanding summer study abroad programs, The Office of International Programs (OIP) at The University of Texas-Pan American is offering a new program in Berlin in cooperation with the prestigious Free University of Berlin, the city’s largest university. The program will run from July 21 to August 18.

PSJA Memorial honored at UTPA for Spirit Challenge survey participation
The University of Texas-Pan American ended its recent Spirit Challenge with PSJA Memorial defeating more than 20 Rio Grande Valley high schools in the percentage of responses from its student body to a survey developed by the University to solicit students’ opinions and future plans for college. The winning school was honored April 13 during a Bronc baseball game.

Housing Application Day slated for April 29 in Edcouch
The University of Texas-Pan American’s Community Outreach Partnership Center (COPC) and the Delta Region Revitalization Corporation (DRRC) invite the public to participate in a “Housing Application Day,” Saturday, April 29.

Topping off ceremony marks new residence hall progress
In keeping with a long-standing tradition in the construction industry, The University of Texas-Pan American recently held a topping off ceremony for its new $12.5 million residence hall which is currently under construction.


Computer Science Research Day planned April 24 at UTPA
Students and faculty from across the Rio Grande Valley are invited to attend the first CS (Computer Science) Student Research Day Monday, April 24 organized by the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) student chapter at The University of Texas-Pan American. The event is hosted by the UTPA Department of Computer Science.

UTPA and other Valley Go Centers receive support from McDonald’s owners/operators
In a show of support for Go Centers at The University of Texas-Pan American and at other Rio Grande Valley colleges and high schools, local McDonald’s owner-operators have produced 750,000 tray liners for use in stores to encourage young students to go to college as part of the statewide College for Texans campaign.
