UT Board of Regents approves tuition and fee rates at UTPA
The University of Texas System Board of Regents unanimously approved the increase in tuition and mandatory fees at UT System campuses, including The University of Texas-Pan American Tuesday, March 28 in Austin.


Isabel Allende to speak at 2006 UTPA Outstanding Leadership Series
Internationally renowned Chilean author Isabel Allende will be the second featured speaker in the 2006 Outstanding Leadership Series hosted by The University of Texas-Pan American Foundation April 24.

UT System Board of Regents to discuss tuition and fees March 28
The University of Texas System Board of Regents will meet Tuesday, March 28 in Austin for a special called meeting to discuss tuition and fee proposals for each UT System institution. The meeting will open at 9 a.m. at Ashbel Smith Hall, ninth floor, 201 W. 7th Street.


UTPA to host sexual assault and women’s issues events March 28-April 6
The University of Texas-Pan American will be hosting “Stop the Violence! Empower Yourself!” – a variety of events about women’s issues and sexual assault March 28-April 6 as part of Women’s History Month and National Sexual Assault Awareness Month. The events are being held to educate, empower, and increase student awareness about issues pertaining to violence against women at UTPA and in the surrounding community.

Boeing continues support of education and Rio Grande Valley students
A collaboration between the Boeing Company and The University of Texas-Pan American to interest and support South Texas students in the fields of science, engineering, mathematics and technology continued early this month when Boeing presented a $50,000 check to support the UTPA Boeing Scholars Program, HESTEC (Hispanic Engineering, Science and Technology Week), and the Mini Baja, aeronautics and other student competition programs in the College of Science and Engineering.


South Texas musical heritage celebrated at UTPA’s FESTIBA Musical 2006
FESTIBA Musical 2006, held March 2-4 on The University of Texas-Pan American campus, drew hundreds of students and community members to the three days of inspiring events promoting knowledge and cultural awareness by integrating theoretical reflection and musical performance. It was coordinated through the collaborative efforts of the Division of External Affairs, College of Arts and Humanities and College of Education.

Endowed scholarship to honor longtime professor
Dr. Martha May Tevis, professor and graduate adviser in the College of Education's Department of Curriculum and Instruction, will be honored at an April 7 fundraising event to establish an endowed scholarship in her name for UTPA students pursuing a master¹s in secondary education. The event will take place 6-8 p.m. at the McAllen Country Club.

Beyond AP Statistics Workshop at UTPA held first time for students
Statistics students in South Texas high schools had an historic opportunity March 3 at The University of Texas-Pan American, where for the first time they got to participate in a Beyond AP (Advanced Placement) Statistics Workshop conducted by the American Statistical Association in partnership with the University.
