UTPA receives $50,000 grant from Texas Gas Service and ONEOK Foundation
Students in the College of Science and Engineering at The University of Texas-Pan American will now have the opportunity to apply for additional student scholarships made possible by a recent $50,000 grant from Texas Gas Service (TGS) and its corporate foundation, the ONEOK Foundation.

UTPA’s Spring Fiesta draws record crowd in Washington, D.C.

Valley Go Centers promote College for Texans effort
All systems were “go” May 3 at the launch of McAllen Memorial High School’s new Go Center, one of many to be developed in high schools across the Rio Grande Valley and the state as a vital part of the College for Texans statewide campaign to increase the number of students entering post-secondary education.


Wellness and Recreation Sports Complex to become reality on campus
Students at The University of Texas-Pan American will soon be enjoying a $26 million state-of-the-art Wellness and Recreation Sports Complex, which cleared its final hurdle in the Texas legislature May 25 when both the House and Senate signed HB 258 approving its establishment.


July 21 IT 2005 Summit at UTPA to promote technology development initiatives
The Computing and Information Technology Center (CITeC) at The University of Texas-Pan American, in conjunction with Congressman Rubén Hinojosa, will be hosting its second annual IT (Information Technology) Summit – Summit 2005 titled "Knowledge Extraction” – July 21 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the auditorium in the UTPA Engineering Building.


Fourth Premedical Honors College cohort graduates from medical school
The dedication and perseverance of 10 alumni from The University of Texas-Pan American paid off May 24 when they graduated from medical school, after having completed the UTPA-Baylor College of Medicine Premedical Honors College (PHC) program they entered at UTPA eight years ago.

Valley youth participate in UTPA summer engineering camps
The University of Texas-Pan American is buzzing with activity during the first summer session for pre-college age students interested in engineering. UTPA is hosting three engineering camps this summer, which began the week of June 6-10 for its first camp.

PA Summer Enrichment Program runs through July 1 at UTPA
The University of Texas-Pan American Physician Assistant Studies Program is continuing its recruitment and retention efforts for minority and disadvantaged students through a pilot program initially tested at UTPA – the Physician Assistant Summer Enrichment Program.

Cordero visits UTPA and speaks about collaboration for autism research center
Dr. Jose Cordero, assistant surgeon general of the Public Health Service and director of the National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, speaks to more than 50 people at The University of Texas-Pan American June 10 about establishing UTPA as a Center of Excellence for Autism and Developmental Disabilities Research and Epidemiology.
