UTPA explores collaborative research partnerships
Research faculty at The University of Texas-Pan American recently met with the representatives from the Office of the Navy, Georgia Tech Research Institute (GTRI) – the applied research arm of the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, and Tennessee State University (TSU). At the meeting GTRI and TSU's successful research collaborative initiatives were shared, areas for possible research collaborations with UTPA faculty were explored and the structure for research partnerships among the three institutions was discussed.

Fifties Sock Hop Oct. 22 to benefit female student-athletes at UTPA
You can “rock around the clock” and “twist the night away” when you attend the Fourth Annual Women’s Athletics Fundraiser “Fifties Sock Hop” Oct. 22 at the Shary Shivers Estate in Palmview. In its fourth year, the annual fun-filled event, with a different theme each year, raises money to enhance and support the women’s athletic programs at The University of Texas-Pan American.

The new 82,000-square-foot Education Complex at The University of Texas-Pan American is a facility that celebrates South Texas culture and the honor UTPA has of being ranked first in the nation in the number of bilingual education graduates and second in the number of teacher graduates in the state.

UTPA student papers gain recognition by Southwest Theatre and Film Association
A student from The University of Texas-Pan American nabbed the top honor recently from the Southwest Theatre and Film Association (SWTFA) for a paper submitted in the association’s yearly scholarly theatre history debut paper contest – the Oscar Brockett Prize in Theatre History.
