UTPA offers German course for spring 2005
The Department of Modern Languages and Literature at The University of Texas-Pan American will be offering Beginning German I next semester – the first time since fall 1997.


UTPA Dance Ensemble performs Nov. 11-14
The University of Texas-Pan American Dance Ensemble will begin its annual fall performances Nov. 11-13 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 14 at 2 p.m. in the UTPA Fine Arts Auditorium.

UTPA invites community to celebrate French culture
The advanced class in French Culture and Civilization at The University of Texas-Pan American will host performances of French folkloric dances and songs Nov. 6, 7-8:30 p.m. in the Student Union Theater. The event highlights the celebration of French National-American Heritage that has become an annual tradition in the Rio Grande Valley.

Flu information session held at UTPA
With the start of the influenza (flu) season almost here, the Student Health Services department at The University of Texas-Pan American hosted an information session Thursday, Oct. 21 at the Student Union to notify students about flu and illness prevention.

The UTPA Children's Theatre production of Herman Ammann's "The Little Troll Without a Soul" will run Oct. 28-31 at the Student Union Theater. The show is perfect, wholesome Halloween fun for kids and kids at heart.

Rocha selected as first UTPA Kellogg MSI Leadership Fellow
Dr. Rodolfo Rocha, dean of the College of Arts and Humanities at The University of Texas-Pan American, was recently selected among 30 distinguished leaders for the Kellogg MSI Leadership Fellows Program.


UTPA signs cooperative agreement with Fort Valley State University
he University of Texas-Pan American President Dr. Blandina Cárdenas and Dr. Kofi Lomotey, president of Fort Valley State University, a historically black college in Georgia, signed a cooperative agreement Sept. 27, during the opening day of the 2004 Hispanic Engineering, Science and Technology (HESTEC) Week, to offer a dual degree program between the two institutions.


Enrollment hits 17,025 for fall semester
The University of Texas-Pan American continued on its recent trend of student population increases when fall 2004enrollment reached a record high with 17,025 students.

“Roaring Twenties Gala” Oct. 30 to benefit UTPA women athletes
Venture into a speakeasy era of flappers, raccoon coats, model T’s and Charleston dance steps by attending the Third Annual Women’s Athletics Fundraisers’ “Roaring Twenties Gala” on Oct. 30. Held at the Shary-Shivers Estate, this yearly event is organized to raise money for women’s athletic programs at The University of Texas-Pan American.


Dressing for Success
A Career Styles Fashion Show was organized by the Office of Career Placement Services Oct. 14 to educate students on career attire, interviewing skills and upcoming workshops. This year’s show focused on transitional dressing – the ability to create a wide variety of outfits with a few key pieces of clothing. Nearly 100 attendees were treated to lunch and given the opportunity to win door prizes and gift certificates.
