Owner and President of McAllen Sports, Jorge Salcines has made it his mission to help make a difference in the lives of Rio Grande Valley youths. Students at The University of Texas-Pan American along with rest of the country, mourned the loss of the seven Space Shuttle Columbia crew members, who perished Feb.1 when the shuttle disintegrated 39 miles over Texas.

UTPA increases enrollment by 10 percent
For the first time ever, The University of Texas-Pan American has exceeded an enrollment of more than 14,000 students in a spring semester. Unofficial numbers indicate a 10.2 percent increase in enrollment for the 2003 spring semester compared to last year.
