Students receive degrees during fall commencement

Educational Leadership Doctoral Program student to attend national seminar
Lisa Hall Irby of Mercedes, a doctoral student in The University of Texas-Pan American Educational Leadership Doctoral Program, has been chosen to participate in the 2002 David L. Clark National Graduate Student Research Seminar in Educational Administration and Policy.

University Gallery to host art exhibit
The University of Texas-Pan American Art Gallery will host a fine arts exhibit, “Departures,” Jan. 2 to Feb. 3 in the Communication Arts and Sciences Building. The exhibit features new drawings by artist Jeffrey Whittle.

January auditions for spring theatre productions

Theatre formally renamed in honor of philanthropist Jeffers
In honor of Albert L. Jeffers, the philanthropist who earlier this year contributed a $2.6 million unitrust to The University of Texas-Pan American, the theater in the Communication Arts and Science Building was formally renamed the Albert L. Jeffers Theatre in a Friday, Dec. 7 ceremony.

University Retention Advisement Program recognized
The University Retention Advisement program (URAP) at The University of Texas-Pan American was selected as a Texas Higher Education (THE) Star Award Finalist – an award that recognizes institutions working to improve academic quality – by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board at a recent ceremony in Austin.
