Dr. Hilda Medrano, dean of the College of Education at The University of Texas-Pan American, is scheduled to speak on "Teacher Preparation in the State of Texas and UT Pan American" at the next Faculty Forum at noon Wednesday, March 3, at the Tower Club in McAllen (200 S. 10th, Suite 1700).

Arizona professor to lecture at UTPA on Folk Medicine along the Texas/Mexico border
Dr. Robert T. Trotter II, professor of anthropology at Northern Arizona University, will present a public lecture on folk medicine in the Texas/Mexico border region at noon Thursday (Feb. 25) at The University of Texas-Pan American Social and Behavioral Science Building, Room 101.


Elementary students meet college professors through interactive videoconference at UTPA
With the pull of a computer switch, quickly followed by a faint sound of a bell, more than 25 students from Jackson Elementary School in McAllen were introduced to the latest video technology Thursday Feb. 18 as they met two professors for the first time through an interactive videoconference at The University of Texas-Pan American’s International Trade and Technology Building.


Florida International University professor to give lecture on Tiwanaku Culture at UTPA

Assistant to President at UTPA returning to classroom, named faculty athletics representative
R. Neal Rieke, assistant to the president at The University of Texas-Pan American and assistant professor of speech communication, has been named the university’s faculty athletics representative and is gradually returning to his teaching duties.

UT System Board of Regents approves request for new Student Union at UTPA
The University of Texas System Board of Regents voted Thursday (Feb. 11) to approve construction of a new Student Union at The University of Texas-Pan American.


Razzaghi named interim director of library at UTPA
Dr. Farzaneh Razzaghi, assistant director for research services at the University Library, has been named interim director of the library after the resignation at the end of December of Dr. Elinor Folger Foster.

Interim dean named for UTPA College of Arts and Humanities
Dr. Rodolfo Rocha, chair of the Department of History and Philosophy at The University of Texas-Pan American, has been named interim dean of the university’s College of Arts and Humanities while a national search is conducted to replace Dr. William Davis III, who has served as dean since 1996.


UTPA chapter of Phi Kappa Phi inviting applications for graduate fellowships
The University of Texas-Pan American chapter of Phi Kappa Phi National Honor Society is inviting applications from outstanding senior students for competitive fellowships worth up to $7,000 for first-year graduate or professional study.
