Feb. 17, 2014 UPDATE: Thanks to the fantastic support of Bronc fans, UT Pan American has reached the second round - the Sweet Sixteen - of the NCAA 6th Fan Contest! So the race is still on and your votes more important than ever. The Sweet Sixteen round is only a week long running from Feb. 17-23. Vote daily, vote now at or tweeting #6thFan along with the University's hashtag - #UTPA - directly on Twitter. Your vote will take Pan Am one step closer to winning $100,000 in student scholarships. A race by UT Pan American is on and the University needs you - Bronc Country - to help win.

UTPA is one of 345 Division I National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) member schools in the running to land more than $100,000 toward student scholarships in the NCAA 6th Fan Contest. The online competition provides an opportunity for fans to show their Bronc pride and spirit with the chance to gain much needed financial support for students wanting to pursue a college degree.

Fans 18 years or older and legal residents of the United States can log on and vote at You can also vote by tweeting #6thFan along with the University's hashtag - #UTPA - directly on Twitter. When you send out the tweet, ask your friends to retweet but you can only tweet or retweet or vote online once per day for it to be counted toward UTPA's vote count.

Votes submitted through the site are also entered into a sweepstakes drawing for individual prizes for voters.

The complete competition rules are available at the NCAA 6th Fan Website. At this moment, UT Pan American is in 6th place in the first round of the competition which began Jan. 7 and ends on Feb. 16. If UTPA survives to the second round - the Sweet 16 - the University will receive a $10,000 contribution from the NCAA toward scholarships and compete head-to-head with the other 15 schools in a single-elimination bracket from Feb. 17-23.

The third round for the Elite 8 will also compete head-to-head from Feb. 24-March 2. If UTPA reaches the fourth round, they will be among the Final Four to compete for fan votes from March 3-9. The final two schools will compete for votes March 10-16 for the 6th Fan National Championship.

The Round One competition deadline Feb. 16 is approaching quickly, so vote once a day, every day at or via Twitter.
