Paying for college just got easier. The University of Texas-Pan American is committed to helping students get access to the money they need to obtain a college degree.

On Feb. 9, the University will host College Goal Sunday at the UTPA Visitors Center Express Lab from 2-4 p.m. Financial aid professionals will be on site to help future Broncs apply for college cash using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

The FAFSA determines a student's eligibility for federal and state aid programs, such as grants, loans and work study, making college affordable for everyone.

"To make the most of the two hours on College Goal Sunday, future Broncs need to bring all 2013 tax information for both themselves and their parents, including all W2s, tax returns, and all other tax information," said Barbara Jean Garza, director of UTPA's Office of Student Support Services.

College Goal Sunday is open to all UTPA students, all high school seniors and their parents, transfer students and any member of the community. Free day care, snacks and refreshments will be available.

All future Broncs will have the opportunity to win one of three UTPA scholarships worth $100 just for applying.

"This annual event is a wonderful opportunity for those seeking a college degree from UTPA," Garza said. "Financial aid forms can be quite complicated making the assistance students will receive very useful to the UTPA application process."
