ExxonMobil awards top STEM teachers during HESTEC at UTPA

The University of Texas-Pan American and ExxonMobil Corp. awarded the UTPA HESTEC ExxonMobil Educator Day 2013 Award to four middle school teachers who were chosen by their peers as the best in their field in preparing students for higher education and successful careers.

The winners are Daniel Garcia, a science teacher at Lyford Middle School in the Lyford Consolidated Independent School District; Joanna Wolfe, a science teacher at Port Isabel Junior High School in the Point Isabel Independent School District; Candice Cantu, a math teacher at Jo Nelson Middle School in the Santa Rosa Independent School District; and Enedelia Rios, a math teacher at Grulla Middle School in the Rio Grande City Consolidated Independent School District.

Each winner received a laptop, trophy and a trip to a national conference in their respective specialties.
