The University of Texas-Pan American's University Theatre Productions presents the world premiere of an original play, "Hollyweird," written by UTPA Associate Professor David Bennett Carren.
In this comedy of Hollywood manners, the walk of fame is paved with homicide as a screenwriter and her brother accidentally murder their way to success and stardom.
UTPA Assistant Professor Peter Mikolasky will direct this production, which is based on Carren's experiences working as a writer/producer on shows like "Star Trek, the Next Generation," "Walker," "Texas Ranger," and "Diagnosis Murder."
The play is set to run April 24-27 at 7:30 p.m. and closes on Sunday, April 28 with a 2 p.m. matinee. All performances will be in the Albert L. Jeffers Theatre at the Arts & Humanities Building (ARHU) on the corner of University Drive and Sugar Road. Pan Am Night is April 23 at 7:30 p.m. with open seating.
A ticket for reserve seating is $12, general admission, $8; non-UTPA students with school ID, $3; and UTPA students/faculty/staff, free plus one free guest. The box office opens one hour prior to each performance. No children below the third grade will be admitted.
