- UTPA Vice President for University Advancement Veronica Gonzales
The University of Texas-Pan American's own Vice President for University Advancement Veronica Gonzales holds court in the center spread of the latest issue (Feb. 18) of The Hispanic Outlook for Higher Education Magazine, a prestigious biweekly national magazine focusing on Hispanic education in institutions of higher learning.

Gonzales is featured in the magazine's yearly tribute to women in higher education, which recognizes Latinas in education who are serving as outstanding role models and leaders in their communities. In the article, Gonzales talks about her upbringing and path to earning a doctorate of jurisprudence from The University of Texas at Austin Law School as well as her efforts for her district and the entire Rio Grande Valley as a former Texas State Representative, particularly her efforts to improve access to education by students.

In the article, Gonzales also touts UT Pan American's impressive rankings and her role in helping the University transform the Rio Grande Valley through education.
