University Theatre Productions at UT Pan American will tickle your funny bone with the hilarious comedy of "The Nerd," which runs April 27-30, 8 p.m. and May 1 at 2 p.m.

"The Nerd" is a slapstick comedy of the exaggerated and the absurd. In a play like this anything is possible, even an invasion of man-eating wild pigs in Terra Haute, Ind.

However, beneath all the madness lies the potentially sad story of Willum Cubbert, a young man facing some difficult choices. Will the Nerd help our hero find his way, or will he bury him in cottage cheese and muddy shoes? In between the silliness, the production offers some authentic drama.

The performances will be held at the Albert L. Jeffers Theatre, located in the Communication Arts and Sciences Building on the corner of University Drive and Sugar Road.

Theatre ticket prices include reserve seating - $12, general admission - $8, non-UTPA students with school ID - $3, and UTPA students/faculty/staff, one free admission with a valid UTPA ID plus one free guest. No children below the third grade will be admitted.

The University Theatre Box Office opens one hour prior to each performance. For reservations or more information, call the Box Office at (956) 665-3581.
