The University of Texas Pan American is officially closing the Edinburg campus and all other facilities throughout the Valley as of 5 p.m. today, Feb. 3, to ensure the safety of its students, faculty and staff during this inclement weather. The University will remain closed tomorrow, Friday, Feb. 4.
During this time period, only a skeleton crew will be working to ensure the safety of the campus. We will, however, remain open for dining for students in residence halls and for the women's and men's basketball games tonight.
The storm is approaching from the east. If you feel that you need to leave campus before 5 p.m. today for the sake of your own safety or the safety of loved ones, the University understands. Please contact your supervisor to arrange either vacation or comp time.
As a reminder, classes after 5 p.m. today are canceled.
All classes on Friday, Feb. 4, are canceled as well.
Classes, events and other activities scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 5, and Sunday, Feb. 6, will still take place as scheduled.
The campus will open Monday, Feb. 7, and classes will resume at their regularly scheduled times.
Please continue to monitor the University's main website for the latest news.
UTPA urges all of its students, faculty and staff to be safe if they have to travel during this time. And don't forget to bundle up during this extremely cold weather.
