The University of Texas-Pan American Edinburg campus along with its facilities in Starr County, McAllen and South Padre Island plan to remain open throughout the week, unless weather conditions become too severe for students, faculty and staff to come to campus.

If a decision is made to close the campus or any of its facilities, the University will post information on its main website. Subscribers to BroncAlert! will be notified with closings and other important information as well.

The National Weather Service is calling for extremely cold weather with freezing temperatures beginning tonight through Friday, Feb. 4. There is also a possibility for a mixture of sleet, ice and snow. With that in mind, the University encourages the campus community to monitor the weather situation on local media outlets and the National Weather Service for updates.

As always the goal of UTPA is to ensure the safety of students, faculty and staff. We encourage everyone to stay safe and take precautions while traveling to and from campus and bundle up.
