The University of Texas-Pan American released updated versions of its Bronc logo and wordmarks the afternoon of Wednesday, Aug. 4.
"We are very excited about the unveiling of our updated logo and wordmarks. These refreshed marks have a more modern look that will create a unified identity for the athletics department and our 14 sport programs," Director of Athletics Chris King said.
UTPA chose to work with Phoenix Design Works (PDW) out of New York City to develop the refreshed look. Using elements of the past, designers produced a primary Broncs logo mark, primary UTPA letter mark, and updated a Bronc mascot and alternate marks. The team at PDW also created the custom 3-D effect that accentuates the UTPA font.
"When we decided to update the logo, it was very important to us to keep the bucking Bronc. The tradition of Bucky the Bronc is a big part of the university's history, and we wanted to make sure to continue the tradition for years to come," King said.
"We would like to thank Phoenix Design Works for all the effort they put into our logos and branding. With their assistance, we are one step closer to being the most visible marketing tool for the university, and we are excited about sharing their work with the Rio Grande Valley community," King added.
The updated logo and marks will be featured on the new Sam Williams Court inside the UTPA Fieldhouse, as well as on all team uniforms, practice gear and equipment.
Coming later this fall, the general public will be able to purchase new merchandise featuring the updated logo and wordmarks at the University Bookstore and online at www.utpabroncs.com.
