Distinguished Speakers Series presentation by Judy Shepard postponed to April 7

The scheduled appearance on Tuesday, March 10 of Judy Shepard as the final speaker in the 2008-2009 Distinguished Speakers Series at The University of Texas-Pan American has been postponed until Tuesday, April 7 at 7:30 p.m. in the Fine Arts Auditorium. Shepard had to cancel her March appearance due to an illness.

Shepard, mother of Matthew Shepard, who was brutally attacked and killed in 1989, turned her grief into a lifelong avocation to eradicate hate crimes and to advocate for the rights of gays and lesbians.

The presentation is free. Seating for students, staff and faculty with a validated UTPA ID will be at 7 p.m. while seating for the public will be at 7:20 p.m.
