The Office of Student Life and Transition Services at The University of Texas-Pan American is offering the UTPA community a chance to bring a smile to a child this holiday season through the 14th annual Adopt-An-Angel Program. Now through Dec. 5 the program will be accepting gift donations.

Aries Rawlings, a child of a UTPA student, receives a gift from Santa as part of UTPA's Adpot-an-Angel Program.
The program helps UTPA students, who receive financial aid, provide a more enjoyable holiday season for their children. Students who are eligible for the program must be enrolled at UTPA and be receiving financial aid. Only children still in high school, 18 years old or younger are eligible to receive gifts.

"Each year we have approximately 50 parents register and approximately 100 children to be adopted. This year we are still accepting applications and are currently at 110 children accepted," said Annel Zamarrón, Office of Student Life and Transition Services program coordinator.

According to Zamarrón, gifts are distributed annually by volunteers on the Sunday following the UTPA commencement ceremonies, scheduled for Dec. 14.
