The University of Texas-Pan American community is ready to show their Bronc pride during the annual Spirit Week, Nov. 3-7.

Pictured are UTPA students showing their Bronc pride during the 2007 Midnight Madness activities at the UTPA Fieldhouse.
Spirit Week kicks off with the sell of Spirit T-shirts starting Monday, Nov. 3 at the Office of Payments and Collections during business hours.

The highlight of the week will be the Tailgate Party held on Friday, Nov. 7 from 7-9 p.m. at the UTPA Fieldhouse. This is considered one of the most important activities of the week where faculty, staff and students join together and enjoy food, fun and games. The Tailgate Party will conclude with the burning of UTPA letters.

The Tailgate Party will be followed with Midnight Madness, which begins at 9:30 p.m. at the UTPA Fieldhouse. Come, cheer on UTPA athletics team and watch the performances of the UTPA Cheer Squad and Blazers. Student organizations are invited to participate in the dance-off contest to compete for the coveted dance-off trophy. The deadline to sign-up is Oct. 24 at the Athletics Office.

If you think you are a basketball pro, come and compete against the UTPA men's and women's basketball teams in a three-point shootout. Don't forget that Midnight Madness is the kick off of basketball season at UTPA, which starts on Nov. 8 at 7 p.m. when the Lady Broncs face Texas A & M-Kingsville.

Spirit Week is also the chance for each UTPA department to show their Bronc pride and get bragging rights for a year by decorating their office door Monday, Nov. 3. The theme for this year's contest is "UTPA Goes Green." Departments can register to participate before Oct. 24 at the Office of Student Development.

Other activities include "Spiritize My Ride," "Sundaes at the Student Union," and "Yard Art" on Monday, Nov. 3; "Bronc Challenge" on Tuesday, Nov. 4; "Spirit Patrol" on Wednesday, Nov. 5; "Spirit Walk" and "Spirit Rally on Thursday, Nov. 6; and "The Tiki Torch Scorch" on Friday, Nov. 7.

Spirit Week is full of fun. Don't miss the opportunity to join this big event sponsored by the Dean of Students office and other UTPA departments.
