UTPA's Brainstorming Contest fosters entrepreneurial spirit in students

Students at The University of Texas-Pan American explored their entrepreneurial talents during the College of Business Administration's Brainstorming Contest where they were challenged to add value to an old CD. The purpose of the contest was to get students thinking in unconventional ways, as well as encourage leadership and teamwork. Pictured left is Dr. Jerald Hughes, assistant professor of Computer Information Systems, with Amparo Moran, a senior marketing major and one of the grand prize winners. She and her teammate, Sergio Dominguez, a sophomore international business major, used an old CD to serve as the backdrop for a piece of jewelry by adding sequins and beads, securing their win and $500 prize. Competing teams entered the contest by submitting a video that demonstrated the value-added CD to YouTube. College of Business Administration professors selected the best four entries which were shown to the audience during movie night of UTPA's Student Leadership Week.
