The University of Texas-Pan American will hold three spring 2008 commencement ceremonies Saturday, May 10 at the McAllen Convention Center, located on South Ware Road and Expressway 83.
A total of 1,477 prospective graduates in both undergraduate and graduate programs are expected to walk across the stage. This semester, the prospective candidates for degrees include 1,131 for bachelor's degrees, 342 candidates for master's and four for doctoral degrees.
The ceremonies are scheduled as follows:
9 a.m. - College of Health Sciences and Human Services (275 prospective graduates) and College of Business Administration (202 prospective graduates)
1:30 p.m. - College of Education (355 prospective graduates) and College of Social and Behavioral Sciences (159 prospective graduates)
5:30 p.m. - College of Arts and Humanities (261 prospective graduates) and College of Science and Engineering (225 prospective graduates)
Serving as the 2008 spring commencement speakers will be Joe B. Riley, chief executive officer, McAllen Medical Center, at 9 a.m. followed by John A. Johnson, assistant special agent in charge, FBI McAllen Resident Agency, at 1:30 p.m. The final ceremony will feature M. Olaf Frandsen, regional vice president, Freedom Communications Inc. and publisher of The Monitor and La Frontera, addressing the group of prospective graduates.
