Spring 2008 registration underway at UTPA

Start making a difference in your life by registering for spring 2008 classes at The University of Texas-Pan American.

Registration and payment deadline is Jan. 7, 2008. The first class day for the spring semester is Jan. 14.

The UTPA Registrar's Office is encouraging timely registration and payment by offering students who register and pay by Jan. 7 and remain enrolled and paid through the 20th class day a chance to win one of two Apple iPod Touch portable media players. Those registering after the deadline will encounter late registration fees.

Students can review course schedules and register for classes online through ASSIST (Advanced Services for Student Information Supported by Technology) at http://assist.utpa.edu. A Student Identification Number (SID), an assigned Registration Access Code (RAC) and a Personal Identification Number (PIN) are required to register through ASSIST. The RAC, which changes each registration period, is available through the student's academic adviser or major department.

A late registration fee of $40 will apply to those registering via ASSIST Jan. 10-13. The last dates to register via ASSIST will be Jan. 14-17 with a $90 late registration fee. Key student services offices will have extended office hours - 8 a.m.-7 p.m. - to assist students on Jan. 7 and Jan. 14-17.

Payment for classes can be made with cash, check and money orders, by credit card or Web check via ASSIST or through an installment plan, available for fall and spring semesters only, established through the Office of Payments and Collections located in the Student Services Building, Room 1.145.

Prospective students can still apply for admission to UTPA at www.applytexas.org. The last day to apply for admission for spring classes is Jan. 7.

For entering freshmen, high school transcripts as well as any transcripts for any college/university courses taken are required. In addition, ACT or SAT scores must be provided. For transfer students, official college/university transcripts are required as well as ACT or SAT scores if transferring with less than 30 hours. Minimum ACT/SAT scores and other admission requirements, scholarships and financial aid information are available at http://newstudent.utpa.edu.
