University to host Halloween festival and theatre production

The University of Texas-Pan American University Program Board (UPB) will be scaring up a ghoulishly fun time at the 41st Annual Carnival of the Great Pumpkin Friday, Oct. 26.

The family-friendly event is scheduled from 6-10 p.m. at UTPA's new Wellness and Recreational Sports Complex (WRSC), located on the corner of Sugar Road and Schunior Street.

This great indoor festival is open to members of the UTPA community and general public. The carnival will offer food, games, costume contests, music, and free attractions. Admission and parking is free for those who attend. Festivalgoers are encouraged to park in parking lot C, directly in front of the WRSC.

In addition, UTPA's University Theatre will be unleashing zombies and other scary creatures in the stage production of "The Night of the Living Dead," which runs Oct. 25-28 in the Studio Theatre, located in the Communication Arts and Sciences Building, Room 107.

Performance times are 9 p.m., Oct. 25, 9 p.m. and 11:30 p.m., Oct. 26-27, and 2 p.m., Oct. 28. The production, directed by Brian Warren, is based on the famous movie of the same name, and it is a live and undead recreation of the notorious film.

All tickets sales are $5 general admission and must be purchased at the door prior to the performance. No free tickets or reservations are available.
