UTPA provost recognizes faculty with awards for Latin American Studies

Six faculty members from The University of Texas-Pan American were recognized with the eighth annual Provost's Awards for Latin American Studies during a luncheon held April 4 as part of Pan American Days' week of events April 2-6 at the University. The awards are given to an outstanding faculty member in each of the six UTPA colleges who excel in their disciplines while promoting Latin America and the Americas through their teaching, research and service. Each award winner was presented a personalized crystal globe and, for the first time, a monetary award of $500. Romero (College of Arts and Humanities); UTPA President Dr. Blandina Cárdenas; and award winner Dr. Frederic Zaidan III, (College of Science and Engineering). The Provost's Awards for Latin American Studies and luncheon were sponsored by the Office of the Provost and Division of Academic Affairs and the Office of International Programs.
