The Office of International Programs at The University of Texas-Pan American will host Professor Atul Tandan, director of the Mudra Institute of Communications (MICA) in Ahmedabad, India, Sept. 26-29 in order to strengthen the academic relationship between MICA and UTPA and to develop more exchange programs between the two institutions.

- Atul Tandan
MICA became an international academic partner with UTPA following an agreement signed by both in 2004. In summer 2005, the first students from UTPA traveled to MICA for a study abroad program in communications led by former UTPA professor Dr. George McLemore, who coordinated and taught in the program with Tandan. Currently, plans are underway for MICA students to study at UTPA during the 2007 spring and fall semesters.

During his visit to UTPA, Tandan will give presentations on "Rural Communication in India" and "Product Branding in the Globalized Economy" for communication and business students. Tandan has 34 years of diverse experience, 25 of which are in the communication industry. He has held honorary positions of responsibility on management and executive committees of several industry associations and councils, including a five-year membership on the Bombay University Advisory Board for Management Studies in India.
