As the implementation of a new financial system approaches, employees at The University of Texas-Pan American can rest assured, knowing they can call the Business Affairs Hotline at any time to resolve problems or concerns they have regarding the University's business services.
"With the implementation of Oracle Financials, we should get a more user- friendly system. However, change brings anxiety, and we anticipate even more questions for the first two to three months after it is has been implemented," James Langabeer, vice president for Business Affairs, said of the new system that is scheduled to go live Sept. 1. "I would ask that all who have questions direct them to the experts on the hotline."
Established in 1994, the purpose of the hotline is to provide University employees a useful tool to obtain answers about University business procedures from one centralized source.
The hotline, which receives about 14 calls per month, goes directly to the Office of the Comptroller, and requests are addressed by either Elia E. Lopez or Laura G. Silva. Lopez, director of accounting, may be reached at 381-2724, and Silva, accountant III, may be reached at 316-7906.
According to Silva, many of the questions received through the hotline deal with problems viewing certain screens in FRS (Financial Records System) and identifying the originating source for specific expenditures within employees' accounts.
Business hours for the hotline are Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., but employees can also leave voicemails after hours or send e-mails for their requests. Lopez may be reached by e-mail at email@example.com and Silva at firstname.lastname@example.org.
