In honor of Work Study Appreciation Week, The University of Texas-Pan American held its annual Work Study of the Year Awards Luncheon, Thursday April 6 in the International Trade and Technology Building. Of the nearly 900 students employed under the Work Study Program at UTPA, 25 students were nominated to receive awards. The luncheon is held each year to honor the hard work and contributions of the University's work studies. Dr. Olga Ramirez, a professor in the mathematics department and former work study at UTPA, was this year's Success Profile, and she commended students during a speech for their contributions as work studies, stressing the importance her work study experience had on her life.
