In an effort to empower students to live healthier lives, Student Health Services at The University of Texas-Pan American is hosting its annual health fair, Thursday, April 6.
The fair, titled "Everyone is a Star: Empowering Students to Stop the Violence and Live Healthier Lives," will provide community and campus organizations the opportunity to promote their services and increase awareness.
"It's a great opportunity for students to see the agencies that are participating and for the agencies to offer their services, many of them for free," said Cesar Quintanilla, health education coordinator of student health services.
Quintanilla, who is coordinating the fair, said he would like to see people take advantage of the free information, and he hopes students will "learn about health in a fun way."
More than 30 community and campus organizations participated in the fair last year, and more than 400 students, faculty, and staff attended. This year's fair will be held in the University Ballroom from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Admission is free, and door prizes will be given away throughout the day.
